BRAINSPOTTING
“Where you look affects how you feel”
Have you ever wondered why you have strong emotions or reactions that seemingly come “out of nowhere”? Many of us experience events or experiences in our lives that can be deemed as “traumatic” and can leave us with emotional, mental, and physical wounds. At times, this can lead us to self-destructive behaviors and sabotage relationships.
Brainspotting (BSP) is a therapeutic approach created by Dr. David Grand, Ph.D., to help process our negative experiences and allow us to heal and move forward in our lives.
How Does Brainspotting work?
The healing done through Brainspotting comes from within - our emotions, thoughts, and body are all connected. Brainspotting at its core is a brain, body, and relational approach that utilizes specific eye-positions or “brainspots” to process and release complex emotions in the subcortical part of our brain. Compared to traditional talk therapy, Brainspotting allows us to dive deeper into our emotions and create more meaningful connections between our mind and body.
Is Brainspotting for me?
In short, yes. Brainspotting is a deeply healing process that can allow positive growth towards your goals. Especially for those who have been in traditional talk therapy for years, Brainspotting can provide the focus and precision to alleviate trauma, anxiety, depression, and behavioral challenges stored within the mind and body.
